Public Art

The Decatur Area Arts Council brings color, creativity, and community together in the heart of downtown Decatur.

Located inside the beautifully restored Madden Arts Center, the Arts Council works year-round to make the arts accessible to everyone—whether you’re a lifelong artist or just discovering your creative spark.

Step inside and you’ll find the Anne Lloyd Gallery, where monthly exhibits showcase everything from local talent to nationally recognized artists. Each new show offers something different and inspiring, inviting visitors to see the world through an artist’s eyes. Upstairs, the classrooms buzz with energy as kids and adults dive into art classes, workshops, and hands-on experiences designed to awaken imagination and build confidence.

Beyond the walls of the Madden Arts Center, the Decatur Area Arts Council helps keep the arts alive throughout the community. Their public art projects, festivals, and outreach programs bring creativity to unexpected places, from murals and outdoor concerts to arts education in local schools. The annual community favorites like Arts in Central Park and the Christmas Card Lane display add extra magic to Decatur’s cultural calendar.

With a mission to enrich lives and strengthen the community through the arts, the Decatur Area Arts Council invites everyone to be part of something inspiring. Whether you’re taking a class, attending an exhibit, or simply enjoying the view of downtown’s artistic flair, there’s always something to see, do, and create. Discover how the arts connect us all at the Decatur Area Arts Council.
