Illinois Lincoln Highway Interpretive Mural – Geneva

The Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition has produced 35 Interpretive Murals along this National Scenic Byway and its corridor in northern Illinois. These depict the history, heritage and events of the highway and impact on American travel.
The mural is on the Geneva Masonic Lodge building, in the heart of the historic downtown. This painting depicts a remarkable streetscape in the same downtown, circa early 1900s, featuring the local motorcycle policeman. As visitors discover the many details of the mural, they will also find several other amenities Geneva offered to the newly motoring public, including one of the first traffic lights. As a tribute to the Masons, the Masonic symbol is has been hidden within the painting.
