Hiking & Trails

The Morton Arboretum is a large public garden with tree-filled landscapes, flower-filled gardens, festive events, and areas for children to play outdoors safely.

The Morton Arboretum spans 1,700 acres of diverse scenery, including woodlands, prairies, lakes, and specialty gardens—all expertly curated by our scientific staff. Explore over 16 miles of trails and 9 miles of scenic drives as you enjoy bird watching, family outings, and the beauty of each season as nature unfolds around you. Children of all ages will love the 4-acre Children’s Garden, where they can splash through hidden streams, climb colossal acorns, and slide down giant tree roots in a safe and imaginative environment. If you’re curious about trees, plants, or landscaping, our Plant Clinic offers expert, science-based advice to assist with identification, garden design, pest and disease concerns, and more.
