International Horseradish Festival

The fest spans several city blocks where visitors will have their choice of events happening on two festival stages, a family fun area, a craft village, food, drink, and games! Horseradish Fest opens June 5-6 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Rain or shine, the fest will go on!

Approximately 60 percent of the world's horseradish is grown in the Collinsville area- The Illinois Horseradish Growers Association includes close to a dozen farms in Madison and St. Clair counties, ranging from five to 500 acres of production. The area lies within the “American bottoms,” a Mississippi River basin with soils rich in potash, a nutrient that allows for healthy horseradish growth. Nationwide, roughly 24 million pounds of horseradish roots are ground and processed each year to produce some 6 million gallons of prepared horseradish. Illinois produces the largest supply with Collinsville-based J.R. Kelly Co. being the nation’s top supplier, marketing an annual 10 million to 12 million pounds of roots- earning the nickname “The Horseradish House.”

In celebration of this spicy, prized crop, Collinsville is throwing a party and everyone is invited! Come add some spice to your life and enjoy the live music, food, and vendors celebrating one of the biggest crops in Illinois!
